Edmonton police said Tuesday that charges were pending against one person, after a tractor-trailer and car collided north of downtown Monday afternoon.

The collision took place at about 5:40 p.m. Monday, on Princess Elizabeth Avenue and Kingsway Avenue.

Investigators said a car, that was heading eastbound on Kingsway, was attempting a left turn when it was hit by a tractor trailer that was headed westbound.

One person, the passenger in the vehicle who was later identified as a 27-year-old male, died on the scene, and the female driver was taken to hospital with injuries.

On Tuesday, police said charges were pending against the 27-year-old woman – EPS said it’s believed alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
