Just three weeks after opening, the Walterdale Bridge has already been reduced down to two lanes to complete the pavement to the north connection to River Valley Road.
“It really seems like it happens a lot in Edmonton," Russel Giesbrecht, a driver who was impacted by the congestion Tuesday.
City officials said they opened the bridge before the entire project was completed, and some minor traffic delays are to be expected as some of the other work is finished, even though the design was intended to be completed in 2015.
More work on the bridge includes road re-alignment around the structure, and demolition of the old bridge.
