Months after the former head of Northlands stepped down, the organization named a new President and CEO.
Tim Reid has been appointed the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Northlands, the organization said Thursday.
“Northlands’ vision for the future is bright and I’m looking forward to joining an already strong leadership team,” Reid said in a press release. “I’m excited to be part of an organization that has so many opportunities ahead.”
Reid acknowledged his time at Northlands comes as the organization is at a crossroads – as the Edmonton Oilers prepare to move to the new Rogers Place, once it’s built in the downtown core.
The new head of the organization said a decision on the future of Rexall Place should be made within the next six months.
“When change happens and the Edmonton Oilers move to a new location, there will be a deficiency delt in the budget that we'll have to find," Reid said. "I think we'll have to be creative using the skill sets we have."
Reid takes over from Sharilee Fossum, who has been serving as acting President and CEO since January 2014.
Fossum took over after former President and CEO Richard L. Anderson stepped down in early January.
The new President and CEO previously worked as the CEO of the Regional Recreation Corporation (RRC) of Wood Buffalo – including operating MacDonald Island Park in Fort McMurray, called Canada’s largest community recreation and events facility, and home to the $181 million Suncor Community Leisure Centre.
Before working with RRC, Reid headed up the Centennial Centre in Bonnyville.
Reid’s new appointment is effective September 15.
