One person is dead and another is in hospital after a collision in St. Albert Saturday night.
Police said the incident happened on St. Albert Trail and Hebert Road around 8:20 p.m. after a southbound vehicle turning left struck a northbound vehicle.
“The vehicle that was travelling northbound then struck a light post,” Cst. Janice Schoepp explained.
The 20-year-old passenger was declared dead on the scene while the 26-year-old driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Their names have not been released.
No one in the second vehicle was injured.
Kim Wildey who saw the collision said it was an emotional event as she watched rescue crews cut open the vehicle.
“I had friends who died back in my home town,” Wildey told CTV News, adding her friends had died in a collision as well.
“Things like this brings back memories and feelings.”
RCMP in northern Alberta are also investigating a fatal collision on Highway 63 that happened Friday.
Edmonton police are also dealing with a fatal collision that occurred Saturday on Anthony Henday Drive.
