RCMP investigating fatal crash west of Edmonton

One man is dead, and two others are in hospital after a serious collision Saturday evening west of Edmonton.

Emergency crews responded to a crash near the intersection of highways 43 and 33 in Lac Ste. Anne County, just northwest of Onoway, Alta., before 7 p.m.

The car, southbound on Highway 33, entered the intersection with Highway 43 and collided with the westbound motorcycle, police said in a statement Sunday.

According to Mounties, a 65-year-old motorcyclist from Sangudo was pronounced dead at the scene, while two car occupants were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic was impacted for several hours as the RCMP collision analyst was on scene assisting the investigation. The highways reopened around 1:15 a.m.
