It’s believed a suspect used a taxi cab to go to a southeast Edmonton bank – before robbing it, and attempting to flee in the same cab.

“Reports of a robbery came in just after 2 p.m., in the area of 61 Avenue and 59 Street,” EPS Spokesperson Noreen Remtulla said. “Police responded, and witnesses indicated that the suspect fled in a cab.”

The suspect was found, with the money, a short time later.

It’s believed the suspect caught the taxi in the downtown area, had the driver take him to the bank, and then had the vehicle wait outside while he went in and allegedly committed the armed robbery inside.

As part of their investigation, police are looking into whether the cab was headed back to the suspect’s home before police found it in the Capilano Mall area.
