Nearly two days after a popular south side recreational facility was shut down, the city finished work to repair damage from a water line break, and the centre was reopened to the public.
Officials said as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, operations at the Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre resumed.
On Tuesday afternoon, drop-in programming had resumed, and registered programming was set to restart Wednesday morning – all summer sports day camps that had to be moved to other sites, will return Wednesday. In addition, participants in City Arts Centre day camps will be contacted over program locations.
The facility was shut down at about 5 a.m. Monday, after a water line in the centre’s north parking lot burst, flooding the parking lot.
About a foot of water seeped into the basement as well, damaging computers inside.
Crews were busy Monday cleaning up the mess, and a City spokesperson said officials were testing mechanical and safety systems Tuesday.
Terwillegar Rec Centre is located at 2051 Leger Road.
