Fort Saskatchewan RCMP said three people had been charged in connection to the death of a man, whose body was found in a burned-out car near Fort Saskatchewan at the beginning of the year.
Back on January 10, at about 5 p.m., RCMP said officers were called to Township Road 572, between Range Roads 201 and 202 in Lamont County.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that had been damaged by fire, and human remains were found inside.
The individual was later identified as Junior Morris Laidley, 38, an Edmonton man who was the subject of a missing person’s case – he was reported missing to police January 13.
After a three month investigation, police said three male suspects, all from Edmonton, had been charged with first degree murder: Matthew Thiemer, 31, Melvin Pennell, 39, and Christopher Chung, 39.
In addition, RCMP said Pennell and Chung had also been charged with indignity to human remains, they are scheduled to appear in court April 14. Thiemer appeared in court Thursday, April 7, and was remanded in custody.
