Officials with the Town of Devon have declared a state of emergency due to elevated water in the North Saskatchewan River.
They have begun a controlled evacuation of low lying areas on the River.
Several areas including the Devon Lions campground and Voyageur Park have been closed.
Residents have been asked to follow the direction of local authorities and to head to the Devon Community Centre at 20 Haven Avenue or the Devon public library parking lot at 17 Athabasca Avenue.
River Valley trails have also been closed.
Devon is 26 kilometers southwest of Edmonton.
