We did what Pat Zelenak never thought possible in this modern, pampered era. Pat is the project manager on this build, for good reason. He builds playgrounds for a living. He says he has never heard of a group of volunteers hand digging all of the holes, getting the equipment in and manually sanding a playground with shovels and wheel barrows. He says of a site this big, it is an accomplishment we should be extremely proud of. We did it and a bit ahead of schedule too.
We celebrated with a group photo and massages. Let’s face it, we are older. We all have desk jobs. Even a few are retired, and this was back breaking work. On the final day, Mother Nature turned up the heat. The sun beat down. And the rays found all the spots our sun screen missed. We can't wait for the kids to see it on Sunday, but make no mistake we are glad it’s done.
