Edmonton police said the Major Collision Investigations Unit was working to determine what happened, in a fatal collision involving a pedestrian Tuesday afternoon.
Police said at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to a pedestrian-involved collision with an ETS bus in the area of 87 Avenue and 169 Street.
The 83-year-old female pedestrian was treated on the scene by paramedics, and taken to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Reports indicated she was legally crossing the street in a marked crosswalk, from the north curb to the south curb when she was hit.
No charges have been laid against the bus driver, the investigation continues.
The avenue had been closed in both directions due to the crash - the roads were expected to remain closed for several hours.
