Alberta Healthy Services said Friday that one probable case of measles had been reported in their Central Zone – and warnings were being issued for those who might have been exposed to the disease.

AHS said anyone who was at three locations in Red Deer, at certain times between March 26 and 30 may have been exposed to measles:

  • Real Canadian Superstore, including Horizon Family Medicine (5016 51 Ave.) – March 26 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • Village Mall Medical Clinic (#22, 6320 50 Ave.) – March 27 between 2 and 7 p.m. and March 30 between noon and 4 p.m.
  • Dynalife Laboratory (#101, 5002 55 St.) – March 28 between 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Anyone who was in those areas at those times is advised to monitor themselves, and if they develop measles symptoms, they’re asked to call Health Link Alberta (1-866-408-5465) before visiting a health care facility or provider.

Symptoms of measles include: fever of 38.3°C or higher, cough, runny nose and/or red eyes, red blotchy rash that appears three to seven days after fever starts, beginning behind the ears and on the face and spreading down to the body and then to the arms and legs.
