Members of a local hockey team have been reunited with family after the bus they were in rolled in bad driving conditions over the weekend. They teenaged players are nursing some cuts and bruises, but feel relieved the incident wasn't a lot worse.

"I mean we'd be content with hopping on a plane or something. That would be a lot safer and nice but I mean reality is we've got to hop on a bus again," said player Mark Valtr.

The Lakewood Chevrolet Midget AA team was on the charter bus, heading westbound on Highway 16 to Hinton when the crash occurred Sunday afternoon.

RCMP said the driver lost control of the bus on the snow covered road, slid into the median, rolled, and ended up in the eastbound lanes.

One team member suffered a broken tailbone and continues to heal from that injury in hospital.

Many players were reunited with family Monday.

"Everybody lived. That's a pretty good thing to come out of that. You've seen the pictures of the bus. We're all pretty happy to be alive," said Coach Chris Resler.

The weather was poor at the time of the crash.

The bus driver also remains in hospital, but the condition of the bus driver has not been disclosed.

The crash is another painful event for the Southside Athletic Club. The club is still coping with the death of player Kyle Fundytus after he was hit in the neck by a puck over two weeks ago.
