On Wednesday a Grande Prairie court room will set a date for a hearing looking into the merits of a peace bond application against eco-activist Wiebo Ludwig, his son 29-year-old Benjamin and 54-year-old Richard Boonstra.
The summons was served to the three men at their farm in Hythe, Alberta on Friday on behalf of EnCana, Canadian Superior Energy and Seaview Energy.
Representatives from the energy companies say they fear the trio will cause personal injury to their employees or will damage their property. They hope the courts will rule in their favour, meaning the three men would be subject to arrest for coming near any of their sites or attempting to communicate with any of their employees.
Ludwig says he won't be present at the hearing, and maintains his innocence.
In a phone interview with CTV News on Saturday, he said he, his son and Boonstra are being unfairly targeted by industry giants.
"We will try to appeal to the judge's humanity, but when it comes to law there isn't much, to appeal to," he said.
"They've got it all fixed. People on the land have very little room to make a case against industry and the danger it poses."
CTV Edmonton has a news crew en route to Grande Prairie, and will provide more details on the hearing as they become available.
