Edmonton police are investigating, and looking for a suspect, after a woman allegedly woke up Tuesday morning to find a suspect had broken into her home.

Police said officers were called to a home in the area of 20 Avenue and 49 Street at about 2 a.m. Tuesday – on reports that a man had broken into the home, while the residents of the house were sleeping.

Officers said the complainant woke up to find a male suspect in the master bedroom of the home, head and face concealed – the man reportedly threatened to sexually assault her.

EPS said the woman fought off her attacker, and escaped the home, along with her son and mother – and the suspect fled northbound on foot.

The suspect is described as an average sized male, who was reportedly wearing blue jeans, black boots, a balaclava and black gloves at the time of the incident.
