Officials with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) said a man in his 30s is wanted on a number of charges, after a grow-op was found inside a converted semi-trailer in Edmonton.

ALERT said the semi-trailer, containing more than 150 marijuana plants, was parked inside a warehouse in west Edmonton – where more marijuana plants were also kept.

Investigators said the trailer had electric lighting, ventilation, a carbon dioxide generator and a self-water system. According to ALERT, each plant was capable of yielding between four and 10 ounces of marijuana during a four-month cycle.

The grow-op was dismantled on April 28 and a total of 559 marijuana plants with an estimated value of $670,000 were removed.

ALERT said black mould was found throughout the trailer, and water run-off with fertilizers and chemicals was being drained into the warehouse. This is the first time such a grow-op trailer has been found by the ALERT Green Team, although similar operations have been reported in British Columbia.

Remediation costs for the warehouse are expected to be $20,000.

In connection to this discovery, ALERT said Jan Michael Dumas, 37, is wanted on charges of production of marijuana, possession for the purpose of trafficking and criminal mischief.
