Edmonton police said one man was facing charges in connection to Edmonton’s 33rd homicide of the year.

Just after midnight on Sunday, September 25, officers were called to the area of 107 Avenue and 110 Street, where 46-year-old Christopher Lee Giroux was found with trauma to his chest.

He was treated on the scene and taken to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

On Monday, police said Levi Denim Simpson, 26, was charged with first degree murder, unlawful confinement, robbery, possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public, aggravated assault, possession of an identity document and disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The cause of death will not be released, police said. The Homicide Unit continues to investigate.
