Edmonton Police Service homicide detectives are investigating a suspicious death in the Inglewood neighbourhood, west of downtown.

Officials said officers were called to the area of 124 Street and 113 Avenue just after 1 a.m.

According to police, a woman's body had been left in a shopping cart - she had been bound.

Police said the age of the victim is unknown at this time, but did confirm the body was found in an alley west of 124 Street and north of 113 Avenue.

Next of kin notifications have not been completed at this time. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Several area roads were blocked off Tuesday morning as a result of the discovery.
