The RCMP announced the results of their annual Name the Puppy contest on Wednesday.
Thousands of entries came in from all over the country to name 10 puppies that could grow up to be future service dogs. All puppies born this year must have names starting with the letter G.
Gizmo, Gainer, Galley, Griffin, Gabe, Gunner, Gadget, Grady, Grinder, and Gibbs are the names that were selected for the puppies. The winners come from all over Canada, with Tyler Strang, who chose the name Gizmo, hailing from Edmonton.
The RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail is the national training centre for RCMP police dog teams. 93% of the German Shepherds working for the RCMP were born there as part of their breeding program.
