An Alberta man died in an avalanche in B.C. on Saturday.

RCMP confirmed that 30-year-old Kelly Roy Siemens from Hythe, Alta, died on the weekend when he was snowmobiling with his wife.

Siemens was among other snowmobilers operating in the mountains area near Tumbler Ridge, B.C. when snow on the side of the hill broke free on Saturday.

The man was eventually located with the assistance of other snowmobilers in the area and his companions were able to get out of the area safely.

Siemens started snowmobiling when he was very young and hoped to pass on his love for the sport to his young sons.

"They had the two little boys, and spent a lot of time just with his family, outdoors, very much an adventuresome kind of guy," said family friend, Brenda Jones.

Meanwhile, RCMP has confirmed that the man killed in an avalanche near Valemont, B.C., last Friday was a 33-year-old man from Edmonton.
