The Black Gold Regional School Division said Thursday that police had been brought in to investigate a threat at Leduc Compostie High School.

RCMP Cpl. Mike Dunsmore said a message, written on a school bench, suggested that a shooting would take place at the school within a certain time-frame.

Officials initially said a ‘nonspecific threat’ was found early Thursday afternoon at the high school, with RCMP notified as a precaution.

The school was placed in a state of 'Hold and Secure', which means that all exterior doors were locked and students remained inside classrooms.

School officials say students remained in their classrooms until they were dismissed, leaving the school under police supervision.

No suspects have been identified at this time. The police investigation will continue.

Classes at Leduc Composite High School will resume Friday.
