RCMP have located human remains they believe to be those of missing Grande Prairie woman.

Officials said they made the discovery early Saturday morning at the Aquatera Waste Management site after searching the site for nearly a week.

While officials will need to wait for an autopsy to confirm the identity of the remains, officials believe they've found the body of 26-year-old Courtney Breanna Johnstone, who was reported missing by her family on January 30.

Shane Gregory Babitsch, 21, was charged on February 11 with first-degree murder in the connection with the death and disappearance.

Babitsch is scheduled to appear in a Grand Prairie court on March 12.

Police say they are continuing to investigate.
