Police west of Edmonton are still investigating, days after it was reported that a man in his 20s had fallen off a boat on a lake in the area.

Evansburg RCMP said that officers were called to Chip Lake, near Wildwood, at about 8 p.m. Saturday. It was reported that a man had fallen into the water from a boat, and couldn’t be found.

RCMP said Stephen Thomson, 27, of Leduc, had been boating with friends when he fell off the boat – and the other people in the boat couldn’t find him.

Police said Thomson was not wearing a lifejacket when he fell.

Since the weekend, officials from the Parkland County Fire Department, Alberta Conservation, Alberta Fish and Wildlife, and the Northern Alberta Aquatic Rescue Society, along with concerned family and friends of the missing man had all been working on the search.

However, search efforts were held back Monday and Tuesday due to stormy weather.

The search continued Wednesday morning.

RCMP are still investigating.
