Police in northern Alberta are investigating after a boat capsized on Lesser Slave Lake Sunday, and the man on it had not been found more than a day later.

High Prairie RCMP said officers were called Sunday, August 6, at about 6:20 p.m., over reports a boater was missing near the Hilliard’s Bay boat launch on Lesser Slave Lake.

Reports indicated a 50-year-old man had been fishing on a small pontoon boat, when it capsized near the shoreline.

RCMP officers from High Prairie and Faust, with help from the Faust Fire Department and Slave Lake Regional Search and Rescue searched the area for hours, working into the early hours Monday.

On Tuesday, RCMP said search efforts were still underway.

CORRECTION (09/08/17): RCMP said Wednesday the boater was actually 50-years-old, not 40 as previously reported.
