Edmonton police confirmed late Wednesday afternoon that a suspicious death in the city’s northeast is a case of homicide.

Police were called to an apartment building on 119 Avenue and 34 Street at about 5 a.m. Wednesday – they arrived to find a woman suffering from injuries. She was taken to hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Later Wednesday afternoon, police said the Edmonton Medical Examiner had completed an autopsy on the deceased, and confirmed Jordin Amber Aksidan, 21, had died as a result of a gunshot wound.

The Homicide Section is investigating.
