Edmonton police have arrested and charged a man they had been seeking in connection to an aggravated assault that took place in mid-January in north-east Edmonton.

Police said officers took Gerald Paul Brown, 27, into custody just after midnight Tuesday.

Brown is facing a charge of aggravated assault.

Investigators went public in their search for the suspect on Jan. 22 – stemming from an alleged assault on Jan. 13.

Police were called to a townhouse in the area of Hooke Road in northeast Edmonton at about 6 a.m. that day.

It’s believed a male resident of the home assaulted a 25-year-old woman who also lived there.

According to police, the woman was punched and kicked by the suspect, but paramedics treated her on scene and she was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
