RCMP said a man in his 20s was facing charges in connection to a dirt bike collision dating back to August, 2014, that left another man dead.

On August 30, 2014, RCMP were called to a gravel lane behind Lodge Place in Sylvan Lake just after 6 a.m., after a crash was reported.

Police arrived to find two seriously damaged dirt bikes, and two seriously injured men. Paramedics treated both at the scene, and STARS Air Ambulance was called in – although two helicopters arrived; only one patient was airlifted to hospital in Edmonton. The other was pronounced dead at the scene.

Since the crash, Sylvan Lake RCMP have carried out a criminal investigation, and announced Thursday that Nathan Corey Scott, 28, was facing charges including: operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit, causing death, impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death and dangerous driving causing death.

Scott is scheduled to appear in a Red Deer courtroom December 22.
