Multiple sources have confirmed to CTV News the identity of the man found dead in a Whyte Avenue apartment building Tuesday evening.

CTV News has learned that Bogdan Pamfil, 25, was found dead in the mechanical room of the south side apartment block on Tuesday evening.

Police said they were called to the area after shots were reportedly fired shortly after 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 82 Avenue and 97 Street.

An EPS Tactical Team evacuated the building – police said the third-floor suite where the shots were heard turned out to be empty, but when officers expanded their search, they found a body in a basement mechanical room.

The girlfriend of the victim told CTV News Pamfil lived on the third floor of the apartment block – and owned a pitbull named Debo.

The pitbull was reportedly found dead in the suite.

It’s believed at least two individuals fled the scene in a silver Honda – that vehicle was last seen driving west in a back lane south of 82 Avenue.

Witnesses described the suspects as “brown-skinned”.

Residents of the building were allowed back in their suites hours later.

The Homicide Unit is investigating, and an autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday morning.
