An Edmonton man is in custody after allegedly stealing a vehicle and attempting to flee police twice Monday morning in Beaumont.
RCMP attempted to conduct a traffic stop at approximately 1:50 a.m. Monday, but the driver of a blue Hyundai Tucson fled from police.
Mounties found the same vehicle abandoned in east Beaumont at around 9 a.m., and a database check revealed the vehicle was stolen in Edmonton.
RCMP identified the suspect associated with the stolen vehicle, and after a brief pursuit on foot, police arrested 28-year-old Michael Shimaro-Campbell.
Shimaro-Campbell is facing nine charges and is scheduled to appear in court April 6.
