Edmonton’s LRT service will be shut down on Sunday to allow for testing of a new signalling system.

According to the City, bus route 505 will be replacing train service and buses will stop at all stations between Clareview and Century Park every seven to eight minutes.

Officials said the signalling system will allow the Metro Line and Capital Line trains to share the same tracks between Health Sciences/Jubilee Station and Churchill Station.

Trains have already been shut down twice this summer and the City said further tests may be needed but will be scheduled to minimize disruption for passengers.

The Metro Line is expected to open by the end of the year.
