A man has been sent to hospital, reportedly with life-threatening injuries, after a violent incident early this morning in west Edmonton.

City police responded to a report of a bloodied man at the Aurora Hotel, around 1:30 a.m., and officers continue to investigate at the scene near 151 Street and 111 Avenue.

“Shortly after midnight, police received a report of an injured male at the Aurora Motel,” Cst. Christofer Skousbol said. “Upon police arrival, police found a critically injured male and he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.”

The man, who police said is in his 50s, was taken to hospital – his injuries so severe Homicide Unit investigators were called in.

Early Wednesday morning evidence outside of the motel included blood on the door of the motel and on the windshield of the semi-truck parked outside, the semi also had a smashed driver-side window.

Police say a stolen car was located nearby, but have not revealed if the vehicle is connected to the injured man.
