Edmonton police said a seven people were facing 150 drug and firearm related charges in connection to four separate investigations.

In addition, officers also seized drugs and stolen property – with a total estimated street value of more than $300,000.

On April 17, officers with the EPS Drug and Gang Enforcement Unit (EDGE), with help from other units, searched a home in the area of 126 Avenue and 70 Street.

Officers seized fifteen firearms, five of which were allegedly stolen – seized firearms included 9 barreled rifles, three sawed-off .22 caliber rifles, two sawed-off shotguns, a long-barrel shotgun, thousands of rounds of ammunition and a bulletproof vest.

In addition, police seized a stolen motorcycle and quad, with an estimated worth of $18,000.

As a result of this search, police said a 38-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman are facing a total of 60 firearm and child protection charges.

Then, on April 24, EDGE investigators executed search warrants for firearms and drugs at a home near 25 Avenue and 50 Street – officers found 713 grams of marijuana, 25 grams of methamphetamine and 7.7 grams of cocaine.

In addition, a .22 caliber rifle with a homemade silencer, a 12-gauge shotgun, 582 rounds of ammunition and two collapsible batons were also seized.

Two individuals, a 30-year-old male and a 26-year-old woman are facing more than 30 drug and firearm-related charges. The woman was also charged under the Drug Endangered Children’s Act legislation for having a child in a dangerous environment.

The next day, EDGE investigators executed search warrants for drugs and firearms at a home on Richfield Road in Millwoods.

Inside, investigators found and seized the following:

  • Fentanyl (2,296 80 mg fentanyl pills) with an estimated street value of $115,000
  • Heroin (263 grams) with an estimated value of nearly $85,000
  • Marijuana (14 lbs) with an estimated street value of nearly $29,000
  • Phenacetin (4,380 grams) estimated value of $20,000
  • Ketamine (259 grams) with an estimated value of $10,400
  • Cocaine Hydrochloride (84 grams) worth an estimated $6,400 on the street
  • Crack cocaine (23 grams) with an estimated street value of nearly $1,200

In addition to the drugs, investigators seized several firearms including a fully automatic MAC 10 machine gun, with a 50 round magazine, a pump action 12-gauge shotgun with a 15-round magazine, a 9mm handgun with a six round magazine, ammunition, a Department of National Defence-issued fragmentation protective vest, and nearly $10,000 CDN in cash.

As a result, 25 drug and firearm-related charges have been laid against Nathaniel Bradley De Vries, 23.

Finally, EDGE investigators searched a home in the area of 96 Avenue and 156 Street on Thursday, April 30.

Officers seized 8 grams of Methamphetamine, 18 grams of cocaine, and 16 hydromorphone pills, with 2 mg in each.

Investigators also seized firearms including a stolen 12-gauge shotgun, a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun and 410 gauge sawed-off shotgun and ammunition.

As a result, Kristopher Renz, 29, is facing 23 firearm offences and three CDSA charges, while Christopher Browne, 25 is facing 11 firearm offences and two CDSA charges.
