City police say speed and alcohol appear to have played a part in a rollover collision in west Edmonton, Sunday night, that left two men dead.

Officers responded to the area of 95 Avenue and 151 Street, around 10:00 p.m., to deal with a three vehicle collision.

EPS said a white Crown Victoria was left heavily damaged after it ran a stop sign, and was clipped by an eastbound vehicle, and rolled. The car then struck a tree and a parked vehicle.

Police say the victims, identified only as a 50-year-old man, and an unidentified passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the clipped car was treated by EMS crews at the scene, he suffered minor injuries.

Speed is believed to have played a role in the crash, police said, and alcohol may have also been a factor.
