Days after shots rang out in St. Paul, RCMP have released the results of the autopsy on one of the men killed in the series of events.

RCMP said Thursday that investigators had received results of an autopsy on Father Gilbert Dasna, who died Friday, May 9, from the Edmonton Medical Examiner.

Officials said results showed Father Dasna died as a result of gunshot wounds – and it’s believed John Carlos Quadros was responsible for his death.

Police are investigating Dasna’s death, and said the case is waiting for a firearms and forensic examination.

As for Quadros’ death, RCMP said the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is handling that investigation.

Father Dasna and Quadro died Friday, May 9, in a series of incidents that unfolded that evening in St. Paul.

At about 6 p.m., RCMP said shots were heard outside the St. Paul RCMP detachment, and a black pickup truck was seen fleeing the parking lot.

Meanwhile, police were called to a home near the detachment where a man was reported to be in medical distress – he was taken to hospital, but was pronounced dead – he was later identified as Father Dasna.

Later on, RCMP found the pickup truck speeding in the downtown area of the community – when police arrived on the scene RCMP said the suspect fired at them, and then rammed his truck into one of the RCMP vehicles at the scene, trapping the female officer inside.

RCMP said the suspect, later identified as John Quadros, opened fire at officers, and police returned fire – killing him.

Three RCMP officers were injured in the exchange, two were released from hospital within days, but the third – the female officer injured in the vehicle, suffered serious injuries to her feet.

UPDATE (23/05/14): The ASIRT investigation determined the gunman, identified as John Quadros, took his own life during the incident.
