Officials with the City of Edmonton said Tuesday that the Commonwealth Community Recreation Centre would be closed to the public for six weeks, due to the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Starting May 27, the facility will be used to accommodate the athletes participating in the event – it’s expected to reopen to the public Wednesday, July 8.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 will run from June 6 to July 4 – Edmonton is one of six cities hosting games that will be held at Commonwealth Stadium. Games will also take place in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal and Moncton.
