Edmonton weather for Oct. 7: Back to the sun
Patchy frost across central and northern Alberta this morning.
For many areas, it's "another" frosty morning. For other spots, it's the first taste of frost.
It won't be the last, though. Each of the next few mornings has a chance to slip below zero.
Most areas in Edmonton that are inside the Henday should avoid a killing frost for a little while longer.
Outlying areas may not be as lucky.
Afternoon temperatures are showing signs of a mini warming trend.
We should get back to the low teens today and Friday under sunny skies.
13 degrees is right around average for today, but it'll feel a lot nicer than the cloudy/smoky & cool weather we had the past two days.
Saturday's our warmest day with a high near 15 degrees in Edmonton.
After that, we cool off again. Highs drop to the 11 degree range Sunday and the 8-10 degree range for Monday.
PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK:
There's a cold front that'll push across the province on Sunday.
Timing is a little bit of a questionmark at this point and so is the location/amount of precipitation.
The GFS model delays the precip arrival for the Edmonton region and has it moving through later in the day.
The GDPS has some scattered showers possible earlier in the day.
Both models have snow for the mountains and foothills on Sunday and while the GDPS holds it way off to the west of Edmonton, the GFS hints at the possibility of some wet flurries near the city.
I don't think the precip in Edmonton and area will amount to much, if anything.
So, as of now, I'm going with a 30 per cent chance of a shower and leaving the risk of snow/flurries out of my forecast.
It's a different story in the mountain parks though, with the possibility for some accumulation, especially at higher elevations.
Here's the forecast for Edmonton:
Today - Sunny with a few clouds.
High: 13
Tonight - A few clouds.
9 p.m.: 6
Friday - Mainly sunny.
Morning Low: -1
Afternoon High: 14
Saturday - Partly cloudy.
Morning Low: -1
Afternoon High: 15
Sunday - Mostly cloudy. 30% chance of a shower (especially in the morning).
Morning Low: 2
Afternoon High: 11
Monday - Mix of sun & cloud.
Morning Low: -1
Afternoon High: 9
Tuesday - Mainly sunny.
