Members of the Sierra Youth Coalition cycling from Fort McMurray to Calgary made a stop at Premier Ed Stelmach's riding office to protest the oilsands industry in Alberta.
The environmentalists called for environmental justice at their Fort Saskatchewan stop; asking for the right to a healthy and productive environment to be enshrined in the charter.
"We realize that every place we go there will be some resistance from the community because there are people that are heavily involved in the tar sands development...but also understand we are not protesting against people, but against the industry and what is going on here," said Jayme Collins with the Sierra Youth Coalition.
The cyclists will arrive in Edmonton on Sunday and will perform a play on the oilsands at the Fringe Festival.
