Edmonton police are investigating, after shots were reportedly fired in a west Edmonton neighbourhood – and a middle-aged man was found dead.

Later Monday, family members identified the man as Didas Wong – the owner of the Dynasty restaurant in Chinatown.

Police were called to the area of 97 Avenue and 145 Street at about 11 p.m. Sunday after gunshots were reported in the area.

When officers arrived, they found a middle-aged man lying on the ground.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“All we know is after they heard gunshots, they saw what appeared to be a black van leave in a westbound direction,” Inspector Joel Whittaker told CTV News on the scene.

At last word, police had no suspects.

Dynasty was closed throughout the day, staff told CTV News they were being interviewed by police.

Police on scene said the homicide unit has been called in to investigate.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday at 9 a.m.
