A former soldier appeared in court Friday, and entered a guilty plea to charges he faced in connection to the arson of his former girlfriend’s home.

Craig Tullis, 29, appeared in court in Edmonton Friday.

Tullis was charged with break and enter, with intent to commit arson – and was ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation.

The fire destroyed the home of Edmonton Police Service Const. Stacy Miskolczi on February 12, 2011.

CTV News learned at the time that Miskolczi had a restraining order against Tullis at the time – and the fire started on the same day that restraining order was served.

Tullis later turned himself in.

In court Friday, a joint sentencing recommendation was accepted by the Judge.

The recommendation included a 15 month conditional sentence, to be served in rural Manitoba where Tullis’ parents live followed by two years of probation with conditions, continued counseling and treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder, a 10-year weapons ban; and he is not allowed to contact Miskolczi.
