A Saturday morning fire in a subdivision south of Grande Prairie has destroyed a home.
The Grovedale Fire Department responded shortly after 7:30 a.m. to the Landry Heights subdivision to a house that was engulfed in flames.
Two people were home at the time but managed to escape unharmed. As of 12:30 p.m., a cat remained missing.
Firefighters from the County of Grande Prairie Fire Service were also called out to help shuttle water back and forth from the scene.
Five hours after arriving on scene, firefighters continued to put out hot spots.
The Grovedale Fire Department said the home is likely a complete loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
