Even after being issued a stop order from Leduc County officials, organizers of a music festival in the Leduc-area kept the weekend event open, and said it went off without a hitch.

Madhatter Music Festival organizers were issued the stop order Thursday after county officials said they denied the festival permits over safety and security concerns.

At the time, organizers said they were prepared to handle any emergencies, and had permission to hold the event on private property.

Although the festival continued, Leduc County peace officers were sent to the site to monitor the event.

The event’s main organizer said they have been trying to work with the officers.

“We’ve been turning down all of the stages, moving acts around in order to lessen the time frame they’re open for,” Organizer Sara Dantzer said. “I just hope they know that I’m trying really hard to work with them.”

Dantzer hopes the same location could be used to hold the festival again – and she said she hopes to discuss the issue with Leduc County officials.
