A 32-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder following the stabbing death of a young man along Whyte Avenue Sunday.

Ralph Eugene Pike remains in custody Monday after a 24-year-old man was killed during a fight between two groups around 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

He was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

The young man's death occurred just 25 minutes after the death of another man near Whitemud and 170 Street Sunday.

Officers found the body of a 30-year-old man in a luxury car around 2:20 a.m. The vehicle had been sprayed by bullets.

Police spokeswoman Karen Carlson say the victim and the shooter were likely involved in gangs.

"Our officers have been able to identify the deceased male, he is well known to police, he is well known to our gang unit and of course that's assisting officers in their investigation," she said.

Police are still looking for suspects in the shooting death.

The two cases are not believed to be linked.

The name of the stabbing victim has not been released.
