Edmonton Centre-East MP Peter Goldring has been hard to find after he was charged for refusing to provide a breath sample to police.

Goldring was pulled over at 95 Street and 153 Avenue around 12:30 a.m. on December 4. He had been attending the Edmonton East Conservative's 13th annual Christmas party that same night.

After the incident he withdrew from the Conservative caucus and has been sitting as an independent.

However, it has been two weeks since the incident and CTV News has not been able to get an answer to Goldring's whereabouts.

A Christmas open house that was planned for Saturday December 17 at Goldring's office on 118 Avenue was cancelled.

His failure to address the charges has left some constituents with questions.

"Obviously he's got a lot of issues," Tristen Brand said.

"Maybe he's trying to sort those out privately or something like that."

Antonio Oritz said it was not right.

"Everyone should be treated equally," he said.

"I don't think it is fair he gets away with that."

Edmonton-Centre MP Laurie Hawn said he hoped Goldring would return to the Conservative party.

"Peter has made a good contribution to our team and I hope he gets through the situation in good shape.

"I expect he'll be back."

Other constituents have also been more forgiving of their MP.

"It would have been better if he didn't," Wayne Thomas said.

"It's a tragic thing," he added.

"He's a human being and people make mistakes."

Police issued a 24-hour license suspension to Goldring. He faces further fines and could be given up to five years in jail.
