Police east of Edmonton have confirmed the death of a man found early Tuesday morning had been confirmed as homicide, and investigators are asking for more information on what happened.

On Tuesday, December 30 at about 1 a.m., RCMP were called the industrial area on the west side of Sherwood Park, where the body of a man was found.

Police said the Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on the victim on Wednesday, and the death was confirmed to be homicide although the cause of death won’t be released at this time.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.

Investigators said the victim was an occupant of a late 90s green Jeep, and a second occupant of the Jeep was taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries Tuesday morning.

The investigation into the death is ongoing, and RCMP said they had confirmed the death is not connected to the recent homicides in Edmonton.

RCMP are asking anyone who was in the area of 34 Street between 92 Avenue and 84 Avenue in Sherwood Park, between 11 p.m. on Monday, December 29 and 1 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30.
