Police in northern Alberta are investigating after a man was found dead Monday morning near the site where he had been working.
RCMP said on Monday, March 31, in the morning, officers were called over concerns surrounding a missing employee of a worksite, located about 140 kilometres north of Boyle, Alberta.
A police dog was used in the search, and the missing employee was found dead a short distance from the work site.
The deceased has been identified as a 37-year-old Alberta man, who had been working in the area on highway construction – his name, and the name of the company he was employed by, are being withheld.
Occupational Health and Safety have been notified, the death is being treated as not suspicious at this time.
Investigators said weather is believed to have played a role in the death, as the man was reported missing at a time when temperatures had dipped to -25 degrees Celsius, with a wind chill.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday.
