A popular high school teacher from Ross Sheppard High School was among the three victims killed in a head-on collision in the B.C. interior over the weekend.

Students at the high school confirmed that chemistry teacher Brian Warick was killed in the crash.

CTV News spoke to some of Warick's students Tuesday, who said he was a wonderful teacher.

"He would help you if you needed the help.. he was just a great person overall.. I know that lots of students in his class will miss him," said Grade 10 student Riley Schilf.

Another student said Warick inspired many to work hard in class.

"We worked hard in his class. He really knew how to get us down to work. He was fun at the same time," said Cassandra Husband.

Keyfer Mathewson has been a student of Warick's since September and he calls the 31-year-old teaching veteran, one of the best he's had.

"He taught me that I was doing right and I should believe in myself," said Mathewson.

Letters of condolences poured in Tuesday for the man's family, as a memorial is planned at the school to remember the popular teacher.

"Brian Warick was one of the cornerstones of the science department and of this staff and the cornerstone wasn't there this morning," said school principal Ron Bradley.

Lizabeth MacDonald, 52, and her husband David MacDonald, 57, also died in the crash, while Warick's wife remains in stable condition at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

A close friend of the MacDonald's, Patti Janussion, said Dave drove a bus for Greyhound and Liz worked as an accountant in Edmonton.

The accident happened at about 9:30 Sunday morning,  involving a tractor trailer and a vehicle on Highway 5.

The driver of the tractor trailer, a 57-year-old man, wasn't hurt.

"Preliminary investigations seem to indicate that there was a semi truck that may have crossed the centre line colliding with an upcoming SUV," said RCMP Cpl Annie Linteau.

Police have ruled out speed, weather conditions and alcohol as factors in the crash.
