A man in his 20s has died after he was found with a gunshot wound early Saturday morning in a parking lot in west Edmonton.

Police told CTV News the victim was found at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday suffering from a gunshot wound in a parking lot near 177 Street and 81 Ave.

An officer on scene said the man, believed to be about 24-years-old had been shot about two blocks away, and managed to walk to the parking lot under his own strength.

He was taken to hospital in critical and unstable condition. He died at about 11 a.m. in hospital.

Police are investigating, and are questioning a person of interest.

An autopsy has been scheduled, to find the cause of death and verify the victim's identity.

If the death is found to be a homicide, it will be Edmonton's 36th.
