Edmonton police have confirmed the death of a man found injured in the parking lot of a south side hotel, was homicide.

Investigators said the Medical Examiner confirmed Saskatchewan man Aaron Cote, 25, died as a result of stab wounds.

Cote was found suffering from stab wounds, after police were called to the hotel, located near Calgary Trail and 45 Avenue, at about 3 a.m. Thursday.

The man was treated on the scene, and taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Witnesses told investigators that a fight between several males broke out in the parking lot of a nightclub near the hotel before Cote was stabbed.

Police continue to investigate the homicide.
