Police officers temporarily closed a south side transit centre late Friday afternoon as they investigated reports of a suspicious package.
Late Friday afternoon, the City of Edmonton announced via Twitter that the Southgate Transit Centre and the nearby roadway had been closed for a police investigation.
Police told CTV News officers were investigating a suspicious package at the site – the package in question was found in the area of the Southgate LRT Terminal area around 4:10 p.m.
As police investigated, the LRT platform, and 111 Street northbound and southbound between Whitemud Drive and 51 Avenue were all shut down.
Just before 6 p.m. Friday, the City said the Transit Centre, LRT station and 111 Street had all been reopened.
