One woman was sent to hospital with serious injuries Friday night after she was hit by a car and was then trapped underneath.
The incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. near 124th Street and 111th Avenue.
Witnesses tell CTV News the woman was trying to stop a man from getting in his car and driving because she thought he was under the influence of alcohol.
The man attempted to drive away, but that's when the man allegedly hit the woman, leaving her trapped underneath.
One woman who stopped to help a few other people get the woman out from under the car said none of the people involved had called the police even though the woman was screaming in agony.
"I asked "Has anyone called the police" a gentleman came and whispered in my ear "They don't want the police because drugs are involved." I got a little nervous and thought this wasn't right." said the woman who requested to stay anonymous.
The woman said she snuck away to call the police because the trapped woman was in serious pain.
"Drugs or not, she needed some serious help so I hid behind the van and waited for police. I was frightened that if they saw me calling the police that I might be in trouble," she said.
The woman and a few other good Samaritans were able to use a jack to lift the car up, freeing the woman, but she says the trapped woman was not everyone's concern.
"It was a little weird, while two of us were trying to lift the front of the car, another two men (were) going through the back of the car looking for something. We should have all been lifting trying to get the woman out, but it didnt' seem to be everyone's priority," she said.
Paramedics arrived just as the woman was pulled out from underneath the vehicle. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries to her lower body.
Police on scene told CTV News the driver is facing impaired driving charges.
